A GOOD NEIGHBOUR.

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , at 6:50 am by priyangikasanda

Man is a social animal. He likes to live in good company. He has to take same pain in finding good neighbors and companions. It is only our good luck that gets us good neighbors. A good neighbors is a blessing form God. He is of great help to us He warns us to any bad people living in the locality. He feels that he has to protect our honour and our position. He looks to our needs and comforts. When we are sick, he visits us to enquire after our health. If we are in need of money he will open his purse to us. In fact, he is more than a friend because he lives next door and is available at any time. A good neighbour is ever dearer then a blood relation. He is more intimate than the fastest friend. He has certain very good qualities. His presence near us is like first aid available to an injured person. He is not only polite but also very hospitable. He has the milk of human kindness in him. He is the person who knows the art of living with others. He can prove useful at the time of trouble. Having a good neighbour is a blessing second of none. But having a bad nighbour is a curse.

sigiriya

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:34 am by priyangikasanda

Sigiriya     EnvSigiriya ironment means all the things around us like trees, rivers , lakes and the air. These help us to obtain food, fresh water and air and also give us a beautiful place to live. But some people pollute the environment. They burn the jungles , cut down tress and put garbage and polythene into rivers and lakes. By this they pollute the water and air. Sometimes animals eat the polythene and die.
In my little way, I will help to keep my environment clean. I will not throw polythene and garbage every where because these will block drains and pollute lakes and rivers. I will put the garbage and polythene into bins. I will not use polythene to carry goods. Instead, I will only use cloth bags.
I will make my environment beautiful by planting flower plants and fruit trees. This will help to have a clean and beautiful environment for me to live a healthy life.

Pollution and litter

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:43 pm by priyangikasanda

Pollution and litter is one of the most harmful things in the world. When we put things that are not in the correct place it is called litter. Example, garbage. That is what always happens in our country.

When litter is dropped to rivers  and streams they can cause pollution. Animals that drink the water will have severe sickness due to the polluted water. When we eat those animals, we will be sick too.

That’s why, recycling is really important. When people go camping they leave behind a lot of garbage that damages the environment which, eventually pollutes the natural resources like rivers and streams . More over, when people throw things like that , it will hurt the animals. Litter can harm any one especially in places like beaches, hotels and gardens.

Please help us to prevent it. Then we can save lives of people and animals in the world.

Waterfalls are fantastic creation of nature.Waterfalls have different shapes and because of that, they are known by different names .

Usually, waterfalls start in higher places like mountains. Because of this we can see many waterfalls in the hill country.

When waterfalls start , they are very small and not wide. But when they flow further down, they cover a large area and become very large.

The highest waterfall in the world is the Angel falls in South America. The highest waterfall in Sir Lanka is the Bambarakanda Fall. It is 241 metres high . It ranks 48th in the list of highest waterfalls in the world .

Bambarakanda Fall is situated in the Badulla district. Kurunduoya Fall is the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and is 289 metres high. It ranks as the 58th in the list of the world’s highest waterfalls . It is also called the Maturata Fall.

My favourite town is Polonnaruwa . It’s the noble capital of the kings who ruled during the Polonnaruwa.

Polonnaruwa portays glorious examples of the manpower and unbelievable wisdom of our forefather . This is the reason I like Polonnaruwa  best . In the past Polonnaruwa was know as Pulathisipura. The first king of the Polonnaruwa era is King Vijayabahu the First The greatest king of Polonnaruwa  is king of Parakramabahu the First. King Parakramabahu’s tims is the golden period of the Polonnaruwa  era. The last king of Polonnaruwa  is king of Polonnaruwa is king Nissankamalla. In Polonnaruwa ,there are lost of things to see such as the Parakrama Samudraya , Nissankalatha Mandapaya , Lankathilakaya , Kirivehera and Galviharaya  wich portay the architctectural and engineering skills of our ancestorys.

They is a very important message I would like to give to those who wish to visit these places.

Don’t throw plythene and other litter in these sacred places. Even a little piece of polythene or garbage can destroy the beauty of these places. We need to protect these places for posterity.

New Year celebration at my house

Posted in Uncategorized tagged at 12:28 pm by priyangikasanda

It was the first New Year celebration al my house, Because of that, I felt so happy. With the starting of the school vacation, my parents and I did many things to make our new house look beautiful for the occasion.

We made many sweets meats for the New Year. I helped my mother with all the chores to the best of my ability. What I liked most was to entertain the relatives that came to my house.

When New Year dawned and I heard the sound of crackers, I also lit crackers with my father. And when the inauspicious time or nonagathe began, there was silence in my house and its surroundings.

Going to the temple with my relatives also brought me great happiness. When auspicious times began for lighting the hearth and cooking milk rice, they were done by my mother. Worshipping parents and adults with sheaves, eating the first meal, starting work and ganu denu were very beautiful customs.

Wearing new clothes with relatives and playing pancha also made me happy.

Applying herbal oil was another special custom. The oldest among all the family members is my grandmother. She was able to apply herbal oil on our heads.

I also joined in it very happily. Because of the New Year, many friends came to our house and they all helped make the New Year more special and meaningful.

VALUE OF GRAND PARENTS

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , at 12:01 pm by priyangikasanda

Grandparents are the parents of our  parents who are very much older than us. So, we have to feed good care of them. We have to feed them, bathe them and spend time with them if they are helpless. What they need most is company, some one to talk to and listen to what they have to say. We can turn to them for advice In the past, even kings sought advice from the elders. Those kingdoms were very powerful, strong and united. Lichchavi kingdom in India is an example of that. We can get wisdom, knowledge and experience from our grand parents.
I have a lovely time with my grand parents. In my leisure, I sit at my grand father’s feed and ask him to relate stories and recite poems very well. So I memories these to poems. My grand mother waits at the gate until I come back from school. She is the one who helps with me my home work. We are close, like friends.
All religions emphasize the need to take care to elders. When we care of them, there‘ll  be happy and we’ll be happy too. It’s a two way happiness. We can get lots of things  from elders, love, affection, protection and guidance are just a few of them. So we also have to give love and affection in return. It’s like a repayment for all that they have done and do for us.
I have the utmost respect from grand parents, the elder in our society.

The Most Interestng Engilsh Book I’v Read

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , at 11:57 am by priyangikasanda

The great author Charles Dickens has created a sensitive and attractive novel , displaying his competency to the world, in Oliver Twist , which has become a classic today. Dickens makes an attempt to show how unfairly Oliver, the main character in his novel, is treated from the beginning of the story.

Oliver is an innocent boy. Living in an orphanage. His mother died at his birth he has only a stepbrother called Monks. The story flows very sensitively around Oliver ‘s life . There are many characters who are against Oliver and have their evil eye on him . They include his gangster stepbrother monk ,and bill Sikes , Fagin a Jew and Nancy, having developed a genuine love for little Oliver, comes clean about the plot against Oliver eventually. There are good characters too such as Rose, Brown low, Mrs. Bed win and Mrs. May lie in the story.

Oliver’s half brother is a famous underworld gang leader, but at the end, all his underhand work to bring unhappiness to Oliver and others boomerangs. Nancy sacrifices her life to help Oliver at the end. Dickens has succeeded in exploring a good theme to the readers through these characters and their deeds. He has shown that life is not a bed of roses and that every day deed we do will ultimately boomerang on us.
